29 Myths on the Swinster Pharmacy is a children's picture book released on February 11, 2014.
Synopsis[]
We are very curious about the Swinster Pharmacy. We stay up late every night wondering what sort of eerie secrets it contains. Why are there three Styrofoam heads in the windows? Who is the owner? Is it really closed on weekends? Renowned investigator Lemony Snicket has compiled 29 myths about this bewildering establishment, in the vain hope that he could help us shine some light on this enduring mystery.
Plot[]
The story is told from the point of view of two unnamed children- presumably siblings, seeing as they have a similar physical appearance and live in the same location- who are curious about the Swinster Pharmacy. They are also often illustrated with a white dog who follows them.
The siblings travel "all the way rom the next town" to find out what the pharmacy sells. However, after investigating everything, including following the employees and measuring the building- in short, doing all but actually going inside the store- the children are still puzzled by the mystery of the pharmacy. They conclude that "people get sick all the time, but nobody gets better because of the Swinster Pharmacy."
Trivia[]
- The Swinster Pharmacy is also mentioned in File Under: 13 Suspicious Incidents, a companion book to the All the Wrong Questions series.
- The book's jacket unfolds into a two-sided poster. One of the sides is a map of the area the pharmacy is in. If this is the same pharmacy that is mentioned in File Under: 13 Suspicious Incidents, then the map shows part of the town Stain'd-by-the-Sea.
