The Amaranthine Newt, despite its name, is known for its bright yellow color. The name refers to the color of the eggs, which are purple. The amphibian is also known for its prevalent left-handedness.
The only Amaranthine Newt in captivity belongs to the Sobol Family. In order to remain healthy, it requires a large, special tank.
It is prized by herpetologists and southpaws all over the world.
