Klaus pictured all the books in the library, going up in flames. Now he'd never read all of them.

The Baudelaire Library was a large library kept in the mansion of the Baudelaire Family, containing several books, some of them related to VFD. The library was destroyed in the Baudelaire Fire.

Description

The library was kept by Beatrice and Bertrand Baudelaire, and hosted thousands of books on nearly early subject. It was described as "cozy," as well as enormous, and was the prime hangout of Klaus Baudelaire.[1]

Several of the books in the library were likely related to VFD; those books were originally kept on a top shelf, where the Baudelaire parents assumed their children could not reach them. Noted books among this collection were war books, romances, and an expensive and unique atlas. The latter book was eventually found by Klaus, and left under an open window, where the rain ruined it. Upset at the destruction of the atlas and the idea that their children had found their secret books, the Baudelaire parents later moved the collection to a more secret place.[2]

The books, and entire library, were destroyed in the Baudelaire Fire.[1]

Books

Being only twelve, Klaus of course had not read all of the books in the Baudelaire library, but he had read a great many of themand had retained a lot of the information from his readings. He knew how to tell an alligator froma crocodile. He knew who killed Julius Caesar. And he knew much about the tiny, slimy animals found at Briny Beach, which he was examining now.

There were thousands of books in the Baudelaire Library. Some known ones are:

  • Atlas †[2]
  • Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy[3]
  • Romance Novels
  • War Novels[2]
