Though information is sparse, Bertram had something to do with the investigation into the theft of the Amaranthine Newt eggs that belonged to the Doctors Sobol at Amphibians-A-Go-Go.

Bertram found the Doctors' coats hanging on a track near a drafty window, which helped Lemony Snicket figure out that they hadn't stolen the eggs, as they would have put the eggs somewhere warm to hatch.
