Carmelita Spats: Who put you in charge?
Brucie: All of your extremely wealthy parents, although I am starting to suspect they had their own reasons for sending you out into the wild.
—"The Slippery Slope: Part Two"

Scoutmaster Brucie is the leader of the Snow Scouts in The Slippery Slope: Part One and The Slippery Slope: Part Two. She is the Netflix equivalent of Bruce.

Biography (TV Series)

The Slippery Slope: Part One

Brucie is the Scoutmaster of the Snow Scout Troupe 113, which includes ten scouts, including Quigley Quagmire and Carmelita Spats. The troupe is the most exclusive, only including children of rich people; said parents are the ones who put Brucie in charge. Brucie's main job is to carry their designer luggage.

Carmelita spots two intruders in the cave, whom she claims are Violet and Klaus Baudelaire. Brucie is concerned, as she was informed that the Baudelaires were murderers and arsonists, but Violet and Klaus quickly claim to be mountain climbers, and ask if she has seen their missing sister. Brucie informs them that they've been hiding from the snow gnats in the cave, but they can join them and use their map of the mountains.

After Carmelita shares nine stories around the campfire, Brucie suggests their mountain travelers take a turn. Violet and Klaus decline, and she informs them they should be more accommodating, before leading the Snow Scouts in the pledge. Afterwards, she suggests the Snow Scouts sleep, feeling sick from eating so many marshmallows. She offers Violet and Klaus extra blankets.

The Slippery Slope: Part Two

While climbing up Mount Fraught, Brucie asks Carmelita if they could turn back, as the luggage was heavy and her toes frozen. She also reminds Carmelita that she's not False Spring Queen until she is elected. She also mentions that she's starting to suspect that their parents "had their own reasons for sending [the Scouts] out into the wild."

Carmelita proceeds to order the scouts to abandon the scoutleader, "where he'll starve and go feral and have to survive by eating dirt." The Scouts excitedly agree, and follow Carmelita up the mountain. Brucie, happy to be free, quickly abandons the luggage and runs back down the slope.

Trivia

  • She is the replacement for the book character of Bruce, the Uncle of Carmelita who lost Monty Montgomery's reptiles and led the Snow Scouts up the mountain. The reasons for the switch are currently unknown, though it was potentially to uncomplicate the story or to give Carmelita more to do.
  • She is noted to smell like cats.[2]
