Edgar Allan Poe is one of the many authors and poets featured as a passing reference in A Series Of Unfortunate Events. He is also a source of the name of a family within the series: the Poe family. Arthur Poe, a banker and the executor of the Baudelaire estate, is a recurring character throughout the series and the first to appear besides the Baudelaire children. Other characters include his wife Polly, his sister Eleanora (in the Netflix series, his wife) and his two sons, Edgar and Albert, whose names seem to be additionally inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's full name.
