  • Helllo. I am new here. Just asking. How did you become an admin.

      Loading editor
    • Becoming admin is not an easy task. You have to prove to the current admins that you are a serious editor who can continuously check up on the wiki, correct mistakes, add important information, remain as impartial as possible, and help the wiki to be a functioning site and informative collection.

      I was appointed after a while of serious editing by the previous administration. It shouldn't be something to be taken lightly.

  • Hi again!

    I'd like to draw your attention to the discussion thread here, which raises an important question regarding copyright law. I did my best to answer it from the POV of U.S. law in general, but I figured you would have a better idea as to how copyright applies to this wiki specifically. On the subject, what do you think is the best way to present a comic like The Spoily Brats on this wiki (if at all)? That is, should each page be presented as a wiki image (these images, I gather, were taken from the author's website without written permission from the same) or should each chapter/part be summarized in a section or subsection, with a link to the website included in the page's introduction?

    I eagerly await your response.

    • Hello,

      I'm honestly unsure how to proceed in this situation; I'm not sure if publication of the comic on the wiki would violate copyright laws or not.

      I will let you know if I gain any information on this, and I hope you do what you think is best. Thank you for asking and researching before moving forwards.

    • I did not make this wiki, no, but I am one of the current admins. And as admin, I would like to request you please actually think through your edits before posting. We are a professional wiki and are very truly trying to provide accurate information to anyone who needs to factcheck anything from Snicket's works. We are not a joke site nor a site that exists to fuel headcanons and biases. All pages must have information as accurate as possible- and please, for the love of God, use correct grammar. Including proper capitalization, punctuation, phrasing and spelling. I don't mean to be a Josephine here, but nobody will take us seriously if our articles look like they were written by an infant.

      Please keep all headcanons, theories that are not important to the page's information and thus put in speculation sections, interpretations and preferences in comment sections, discussion threads, blog posts and user pages.

  • Hi there!

    I've got two questions for you. First, I notice on some pages templates exist (like the divergent canon, better name, etc.) that include images and funny little boxes, though nothing is apparent to account for this in the Wikisource code. When I try to write a similar template (right now its one that denotes canon unrecognized in the original book series on another wiki), I get left aligned text. I saw on a discussion post that you created a template with the nice formatting. Could you explain how it works?

    Second, where do these badges come from? I'm not particularly interested in adding them to the wiki I'm working on now, but I am curious. I can only assume they exist in the website's source code. If you could shed some light on either of these topics, I would be most grateful.

    I eagerly await your response.

    • The only template that I don't have is the {{cat}}, and I daresay that's not integral to the workings of the template. Everything else is HTML with the exception of a parameter, included in the template's code. I have no idea why this isn't working.

    • Hmm. I'm not sure... maybe your wiki style has different templates?

  • Hey, so I'm usually just an observer in this wiki, but I feel like this is something that needs to be brought up.

    A recent discussion post posed the question of wheter "the Henchperson of Indeterminate Gender is a boy or a girl", and in the comments of that discussion they are also referred to by the wrong pronouns. Additionally, in the comments of their page, the henchperson is also frequently referred to as a boy, a girl, or “it”, with some comments being fairly recent. A lot of people may not be aware of nonbinary issues or correct pronoun usage, and the henchperson may be a fictional character, but I still feel this is important. And as a nonbinary person myself, seeing things like this can be upsetting. I love ASOUE, and of course I’d want this wiki to be a place where fans of all genders feel welcome. I’m not sure how something like this would be addressed, but is there any way that the henchperson’s correct pronouns can be acknowledged, or that some guidelines can be added so that they are referred to more properly? I know people may not care, but the henchperson deserves to be treated with respect, including pronouns, just like every other character.

    Sorry if this came off weird or rude, this is just something that I feel is important. Thanks.

    • Hello,

      Thank you for bringing this up. I'm also genderqueer- genderfluid in my case- and I aws also a little concerned by the discussion. I am myself still figuring out how to handle it- I don't want to simply delete the post without discussion, but I already attempted to explain in a comment that the henchperson is nonbinary. Rest assured I want this wiki to be a safe place for all identities and will be doing my best to handle the situation.

      Thank you.

    • Aah yeah this is something that's kinda difficult to address. Thank you for the prompt reply. I hope something can be figured out. Maybe a reminder on the henchperson's page about proper ways to refer to them? I wouldn't want the misgendering to continue. Thanks for all that you're doing, and I'm glad you're looking after the wiki so that it can be a welcoming space :)

  • Thanks for looking after the wiki, I've been dealing with a lot of crap lately so I haven't found the time. Nice work with the grappling hook article. We're almost at 1000 articles.

    Can you please do a favor and change a line here?

    https://snicket.fandom.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css

    Where it says near the middle:

    .WikiaArticle #toc a {
        color: #f4f4f0!important /*#5e392f #a29a63 #bbb482 #d2cb9a #f3f3f2*/;
    }

    Can you change "f4f4f0" to "000000"? This will change the font color in the table of contents from white to black and make it readable.

    Thanks~
