The Rutabaga River was a scenic stream mentioned in The Austere Academy, probably located in the Land of Districts
History
It was mentioned that at one point, Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire were taken for a picnic on the riverside by their father. He was so excited about the food he prepared that he forgot to pack silverware so they ended up having to eat sweet-and-sour shrimp with their hands. Afterwards, Violet was fishing in the river with a fishing rod that she herself had invented while Klaus was picking blackberries with his mother and Sunny was gnawing on some rocks.[1]
Snicket commented that since that outing, the Baudelaires never visited the Rutabaga River again.[1]
