Season 3 of Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events was released all at once on January 1st, 2019.
It is based on books ten through thirteen (The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, The Penultimate Peril, and The End) of the original book series. The End is also based off of The Beatrice Letters.
Netflix officially announced the development of season 3 on April 4, 2017.[1]
It contains 7 episodes instead of 8 since The End was adapted into one episode instead of two.[2]
Season 3 marks the end of the TV series, due to The End being the final 13th book.

Writers[]
On May 19, 2017, the writer's room finished scripts for season 3.[4] This writer's room included Handler himself, Aziza Aba Butain, Joshua Conkel, Sigrid Gilmer and Joe Tracz.[4]
Directors[]
Barry Sonnenfeld returned to help with direction, although the extent of his input remains unclear.
He mentioned that The End would be one long episode instead of two as he felt there's not enough material in the book. He intended it to be profoundly emotional, perhaps more than the book was.[5] However, the final episode released was only about 50 minutes.
Filming[]
Season 3 was filmed concurrent with the previous season. Filming began on April 13, 2017 in Vancouver, Canada.[6] The crew took a two-month hiatus between November 2, 2017 and January 2, 2018.[7] Filming was scheduled to wrap up on May 8, 2018.[8] However, there was a little overtime and it wrapped up on May 11.
