Snicket Patriach

Chas's father aka. The Snicket Patriach (Real name unknown) is an unknown character in the series. Nothing much is known about him, except that he has great capability to store secrets within his descendants through V.F.D., one thing which defies him as the true creator of the entire family. He is the father of A., B. and Chas. Snicket, the grandfather of D., E. and F. Snicket, the great-grandfather of Jacques, Kit and Lemony Snicket and 6 other unnamed great-grandchildren, and finally, the great-great grandfather of Beatrice Baudelaire II.

He is possibly a member of V.F.D., as he was presumably the member who started the Snicket Clan.

Known Facts[]

Chas's father is not directly mentioned from Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography, but he can possibly be represented by pair of owl eyes in the tree hole of the Snicket Clan's family tree. He is the father of A. Snicket, B. Snicket and Chas. Snicket, since all their initials are directed towards the hole which is possibly representing him.

Theories[]

Popular fan theories state that the Snicket Patriach's name is "Snicket" itself, the reason being there is no more letter that comes before A., and thus it is supposed to be special. Due to the fact that the owl eyes in the hole of the tree resembled the Bombinating Beast (Great Unknown), this may actually have hinted a possibility of a relationship between the patriach and the creature, as it was primarily under Lemony Snicket's care (Lemony being one of his descendants) after the death of Armstrong Feint.

This further supports the theory behind D. Snicket being Ishmael's student mentioned in The End, as it was mentioned that the student lost her ear, "thanks to an incident that happened in her grandfather's laboratory". Due to the fact that D. is the grandchild of the Snicket Patriach, whose gender is male, this would make him D.'s grandfather. Thus, if he was the owner of a laboratory, he was potentially the person who created the Great Unknown out of animal hybrids, and this made sense, considering the fact that Armstrong Feint was two generations below the Patriach.

Trivia[]

The axe beside the tree and the hole representing the Patriach might have indicated that some members of the Snicket Clan were handymen, as it was a tool people with such occupation used in the past, further supporting the theory of H. Snicket being Hector and his father being a descendant of A or B. Snicket (either one of them may be his grandfather working under V.F.D.).
