For unspecified reasons, the Virginian Wolfsnake must never, under any circumstances, be let near a typewriter.
A specimen of the snake was kept in Monty Montgomery's Reptile Room, and was in shown to the Baudelaire children. With the rest of the collection, it was confiscated by the Herpetological Society following Montgomery's death. What happened to it next is unknown.

- The snake was likely named after Virginia Woolf, an English writer and important figure in Modernist literature.
- One of her books, To the Lighthouse, was referenced as a tip from Lemony Snicket to Pip and Squeak Bellerophon.
- Another of her books, Orlando: A Biography was referenced in one of Sunny Baudelaire's babbles, in reference to the Henchperson of Indeterminate Gender, as the book features a focus on genderfluidity. This has also caused "Orlando" to be a popular fanon name for the Henchperson.
- A Wolfsnake is a species of colubrid snake, which is commonly found in the Indo-Australian Archipelago.
